On November 22, 1963 President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas Texas. It was his last stop on his tour through Texas. On this day he refused to use a protective cover on his convertible in his motorcade. That decision proved to be a fatal one as Lee Harvey Oswald, a mentally ill man shot President Kennedy from the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository. The impact of the assassination of JFK washed the American citizens with waves of emotion.

President Kennedy was told from the beginning of his trip to Texas that it was a bad idea to stop in Dallas.
