The Patriot

The name of my movie I reviewed is called "The Patriot" and the production year of this movie was 2000. Roland Emmerich directed the movie and the leading actors of the movie are: Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger, Joely Richardson, Jason Isaacs, Chris Cooper, Tcheky Karyo, Rene Auberjonois, Lisa Brenner, and Tom Wilkinson. In the beginning, this movie takes its place in South Carolina in the year 1776. A former hero of the French and Indian War, Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson), the main character, has renounced fighting forever to raise his family in peace. Since his wife, with whom he has raised seven children, passed on, he wanted to trade his violent past for a peaceful future on his plantation. While conflicts of war continue in the north, a recruiting drive for volunteers for the growing Continental Arm


y was underway in South Carolina. Benjamin Martin, being an honorable veteran of war, publicly makes his objections to the coming revolution, fearing for the safety of his seven children, whom he has raised alone since the death of his wife. However, his eldest son Gabriel does not have the same opinion, and he excitedly joins the Continental Army at the first opportunity. After a battle between Colonial and British troops toured through the Martin plantation, Benjamin opened his home for the treatment of the wounded to both sides. Unfortunately, this act of compassion was viewed as traitorous by Colonel William Tavington, who promptly ordered Benjamin's farm to be burned to the ground, and for Gabriel to be arrested and hanged for treason.
