Kurt Cobain

In 1987 he was living under a bridge in Aberdeen, Washington eating fish and making friends with the turtles. Four years and later and five hundred and fifty million dollars richer, Kurt Cobain is the lead singer and guitarist of Nirvana. Nirvana’s second album “Nevermind” bumped Michael Jackson’s “Dangerous” off the number one spot overnight; they were overnight millionaires with a song Kurt didn’t even like, “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” One thing that really bothered Kurt was that the people coming to his concerts were the people he was trying to alienate. Kurt Cobain was in a lot of pain due to his stomach ulcers; right before Nirvana was supposed to go back into the studio, in 1993, to record their third album, “In Utero” Kurt had to go to the hospital for these pains. Kurt Cobain and Nirvana were the pioneers of alternative rock and helped bring “grunge” subculture into mainstream America. Nirvana was the first “grunge” band to hit number one on the Billboard charts, six months before no one knew who Kurt Cobain was. When they brought their music into the mainstream they brought other bands that had copied them along too, such as Pearl Jam. There were many “grunge” bands popping up
