Beattitudes were written in the following order:
-Lord places meekness and modesty as a basis for the entire spiritual life
And the Lord ended with the following conclusion:
-if the person keeps his virtues and reaches purity of heart and peace b/t him and the Lord-devils will envy him and stir persecution up against him b/c of his righteousness
Ex. Blessed are those who are persecuted....
Not only is a religious life a spiritual warfare-but we also have another duty for the sake of others-so after the Lord explained the Beattitudes he stated the following verses:
- THIS BEATTITUDE SHOWS THAT CHRIST WANTS US TO BE CALM BOTH INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY.
BLESSED ARE THE MERCIFUL FOR THEY SHALL BE SHOWN MERCY
-THE REWARD PROMISES US THAT IF WE SEEK GOD WE WILL FIND HIM -- REFER TO SONG OF SOLOMN CHAPTER 3
