College Vs Pro sports
Sports are a major part of our culture. Many people grow up playing them before they can even tie their own shoe. They are glorified, taught and fed to us. We are taught from a very early age to pick a sport and pursue it. Most kids pick a sport to play with world famous players such as Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan or Mark McGwire so they can relate to them. Also they choose these sports because they are fun to play, that's why you don't see many kids pursuing in the art of lawn bowling or cricket. Without sports many kids would be obese due to lack of exercise, which has become a common sight in The real question which we must face every season is what to watch? College sports or Pro sports? College sports are an opportunity for amateur athletes to showcase their talents competing against other amateur athletes in hopes of one day getting drafted to the pro's where they can make the big bucks. Or professional sports, which consist of overpaid athletes competing against other overpaid athletes a pursuit to sign a multi-million dollar endorsement contract. There are far more advantages to watching college games then a professional game. College rivalries are a good example of th
College football has rich traditions such as walking the Grove at Ole Miss, the 12th Man at Texas A&M, dotting the i at Ohio State, Ride with Oklahoma's Sooner Schooner, between Georgia's famous hedges, Auburn vs. Alabama Iron Bowl feud and up on Rocky Top at Tennessee. Pro football on the other hand, has rich marketing guys with not enough to do. One of the richest traditions in Pro Football was the Thanksgiving Lions vs. Packers game until 1963, much has changed since. The Detroit lions play in a dome instead of the snow and wind and rain, and they play a variety of teams on Thanksgiving, no longer just the Packers. Because there are now two primary TV networks covering the two conferences, there must be two Thanksgiving Day games. The second one, which began in 1966, is played in Dallas every year. People would much rather spend an entire Saturday on campus tailgating and getting pumped up for football than doing anything else. Who wants to get all pissed drunk on a Monday for Monday night football and have to wake up the next morning with a huge hang over at work? It would be much easier to get all drunk on Saturday and take it easy by watching afternoon football games on Sunday.
