Humanities are the broad areas of human creativity and the studies essentially involved with values and generally not strictly objective or scientific standards. As I perceive it, humanity deals in all the areas of human creativity. It is the lense through which an individual perceives her or his morals, culture, views and values. Humanities also deals with the emotional side of our consciousness, rather than mathematics and the scientific aspects of life. Humanities, as one would guess by its name, pertains to humans and does not pertain to God, Buddha, Allah or any other higher power or spiritual entity. For some people with strong spiritual beliefs it is very difficult to distinguish between humanities and spirituality. In fact, some may say that humanities cannot exist without spirituality. However, there is a there is a vast difference between humanity and divinity. If there were not a vast difference between the two, humanity would not pertain to those who chose not to believe in a spiritual entity or a higher power. Humanities and art often stand side by side. During a time when political correctness is almost a must, Pulp Fiction is ferocious fun without a trace of caution, complacency or political correctness. With an immense expression of passion for storytelling, this movie allows the most outrageous characters to reveal their feelings in long takes and torrents of words, both poetic and profane. The script contains verbal rhythm, wicked playfulness and is full of suspenseful scenes. The violence is easily over looked due the morbid humor that is displayed. Pulp Fiction is a film that pushed the limits in the mid-nineties. It?s an anthology that blends three stories and 12 principal characters into a mesmerizing mosaic of the Los Angeles criminal world. This movie takes you on a journey through the life of crime, confusion and fear that for most can only be found in the theater. The movie begins with several separate stories that seem ever so twisted and unrelated to one another, yet very captivating. Slowly, as the plot unfolds these dissimilar tales become woven into a solitary fascinating fable where you find yourself almost cheering for the bad guys. Pulp Fiction allows you to see that even the bad guys have a soft human side to them that most films omit showing. When I look at this painting it evokes a wide range of emotion from within me. I see the brilliance of spring gracing a peaceful valley providing the feeling of peace and tranquility. However, there is the sensation of unavoidable anguish and despair, since you know that the knight will not be returning to his homeland. The turmoil of emotions that this painting induces is incredibility powerful. For me it is difficult not to become enchanted by this painting and holding back the tears that often well up in my eyes becomes an impossible task.
