Should Jefferson be Impeached?
Thomas Jefferson is widely known for his accomplishments of being the third president of the United States (1801-1809) and author of the Declaration of Independence. He was one of the most brilliant individuals in history. His interests were boundless, and all of his life accomplishments were great and varied. He was a philosopher, educator, naturalist, politician, scientist, architect, inventor, pioneer in scientific farming, musician, writer, and he was the foremost spokesman for democracy of his day. During his presidency though it wasn't all smooth riding for him because he was faced with impeachment threats. They were unfounded though because he did not lie under oath or commit treason, two elements worthy of direct impeachment. Everything that Jefferson did was for the good of the country and its people. People disputed the actions Jefferson took, during his two terms, in the case of the Louisiana Purchase, Embargo Act, and Tripoli Pirates. The Louisiana Territory extended from the Canadian border to the Gulf of Mexico and from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains. France and Napoleon Bonaparte owned the Louisiana Territory.
