Itīs pretty obvious that the biggest problem facing South Africa right now isnīt racism, or unemployment, but the very dangerous virus known as AIDS. Stage 4: AIDS. It is at this stage that the person moves from being merely HIV positive to having full-blown AIDS. Infections like tuberculosis, meningtis, pneumonia and other bacterial infections are very dangerous at this stage. Although, technically it is not strictly a disease, it is often referred to as one. Rather, AIDS is a catchall for the many medical conditions that arise from a weakened immune system that can no longer fight infections. Therefore a person does not die of AIDS, but rather to an infection, or collection of infections.
