Canada V. US
Canada Vs. The United States of America: The Ongoing Battle Rac·ism (rszm): The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. Discrimination or prejudice based on race. Racism has always been apart of life; someone will always have a prejudice against another if hate is still being allowed to exist. When people come together from all over the world and can be at peace, the world will be a better place. People that live in Canada today are from all over the globe. Canada is now known as the "Multicultural Mosaic", we are known as French-Canadian, Japanese-Canadian, etc. Our country is very welcoming to immigrants coming in and we treat them well. Many people do not know about Canada's past. People try to forget the past, if something was upsetting it is better to forget it. Just as Canada wants to forget parts of its past so does The United States of America. The U.S is a very powerful country and it is also know for being very patriotic. Just as Canada is known as the mosaic, the U.S is known as the "melting pot", and this is both a good and bad thing. Because of the "melting pot" more people are accepted just as Americans are no
In Canada and America we all have rights and freedoms that we take for granted, but a little under 50 years ago people didn't have rights or freedoms that were guaranteed. In Canada there never used to be a law, which stated that, everybody was equal no matter what colour skin they had. Americans have the same law as well now, but they didn't always. There have been many different ways that people have been discriminated against. One of the most well known offences in North America is the racism against the Africans. In Canada we used the blacks as slaves, we abused their rights as people and now we are trying to make up for it. We did stop our slavery before the United States, and The Underground Railway helped free many slaves from America. Not only were the blacks slaves to the whites but they had no privileges in their own town. The blacks were denied their right to vote, they were put in different schools, and they even had to use different washrooms. There were groups that believed that white people are better than the blacks, an example is the Ku-Klux Klan. Now Canada has the Charter of Rights and the United States of America has the Bill of Rights. With these bills and charters the right of the Black community have been restored and now in general we are treated as equals. t, for example, seen as only Arabic. The bad thing about this system is that people keep their heritage within their family and others do not get to experience their culture. America was not always like this though. The U.S had done some horrific things to the people of its country. Both in their own ways Canada and the United States have treated, at one point of time, their citizens, or just people in their country, without respect. In the past Canada did make mistakes in excepting other races and cultures but I believe that Canada was much more kind and tolerant in the ways they accepted others than the Untied States of America. Religion was a big part of forming a country. Christianity was what people had to believe in. If you were not either Christian or Catholic you were harassed. Both Canada and the U.S wanted Christians in their country and stopped at nothi
