There used to be water on Venus?s surface but because water is less dense than carbon dioxide, the water floated above it. It was then split into hydrogen and oxygen by the UV radiation. There are two large plateaus on Venus. Aphrodite Terra is about half the size of Africa. The other, Ishtar Terra, is about the size of Australia.
