(Anna) Eleanor Roosevelt was born to Anna Hall Roosevelt and Elliot Roosevelt on October 11, 1884. The Roosevelt family was a part of New York's golden Victorian society. In spite of being born into such a privileged position, Eleanor Roosevelt as a child was tormented by the effects of alcoholism, and tragedy.
