“A Rose For Emily” by William Faulkner is told in the third person point of view. Thispoint of view does not allow us to get into the heads of the characters in the story which makes these characters sort of limited. The narrator is never revealed so we are to assume The essay takes place in a town called Jefferson. It begins by telling us that the main character “Miss Emily Grierson” has died, and everyone in the town attends her funeral. The men attended “through a sort of respectful affection for a fallen monument, the women mostly out of the curiosity to see the inside of her house.” Miss Emily’s family were the upper class of the town and were respected because her father had loaned the town money. The essay then goes back to tell Miss Emily’s life story, in which she does many things that most people would consider to be crazy. I found Emily to be a very headstrong and troubled lady.
