Let us look at what makes the IB Diploma Program unique.First it is a two-year curriculum that is design to allow its graduates to fulfill requirements of various national education systems. These written exams are only part of the assessment of your abilities. In all subject an internal assessment makes up about 20% of your total grade. This part of the assessment is earned by the work that you do in class and the standards set by the IB. Your teachers award this internal assessment mark. They have been trained and have agreed to go above and beyond to ensure your success. Participation in theater productions, different sport activities, band and various community service activities provides a refreshing counterbalance to the academic self-absorption some may feel within this demanding school program. These types of activities encourage the candidate to share their energies and special talents while developing awareness, concern and the ability to work cooperatively with others. The IB goal of educating the whole person and fostering a more compassionate citizenry is realized in an immediate way when students reach beyond themselves and books. Only after these three requirements TOK, CAS and Extended Essay are fulfilled are candidates allowed to sit for IB Examinations. The grading system used by the International Baccalaureate Organization is criterion-referenced. Students are measured against well-defined levels of achievement consistent from one examination session to the next. Top grades reflect attainment of knowledge and skills relative to set standards equally applied to all member schools. Diploma candidates are required to select from 6 different IB Subjects areas.
