Public Schools vs. Private Schools
A lot of controversy has been raised over public schooling versus private schooling. Much debate has been made about the advantages and disadvantages of public and private schools. However, the choice lies with the parents of school age children. Many aspects must be reviewed before a choice can be made. These aspects include effectiveness of both types of school systems, religious background, proper funding, personal educational beliefs, and racial integration as well as many others. Some believe public schools are not effective in teaching students necessary skills. Part of this belief stems from the fact that public schools have larger classrooms than private schools. Therefore, less student to teacher communication is achieved. Some children are simply miserable and unable to learn in the large public schools we have created (Chenowith T08). However, studies have shown that it is private schools who have underqualified teachers and use outdated materials. On the other hand, more teacher to student interaction means a more in-depth understanding of material in many cases.
