A detailed Summary of Seinfeld

The one thing that separates Seinfeld from most other comedies other than being a self proclaimed show about nothingness is its intricately devised plots and storylines. Other comedies from the past could manage but a single storyline and attempt to weave comedy out of that. Seinfeld on the other hand takes multi-threaded adventures occurring simultaneously by multiple characters and somehow manages to weave these separate adventures together into a single adventure.

For example in the episode the Rye, Kramer purchases too much bulk canned food and decides to feed some of his feed to a new horse he has borrowed. George watches as his parents accidentally steal back a Rye bread they originally gave to George's girlfriend's parents. This incident causes Jerry and George to desire to sneak the bread back into the apartment that it originally was in. To do this Jerry steals a Rye bread after he cannot purchase one. Kramer's horse comes in handy as it is used to give George's girlfriends parents a horse ride so their scheme can begin. Gas from the horse brings the parents back early and they discover Jerry attempting to sissy throw a bread up to George who waits inside the apartment for it. After this doesn't wo

Each of the characters has it's own unique personality and by using this formula they each target their own different audiences. For example, George is the tell it like it is, go the extra mile, easygoing, no regard for anybody else type of guy. Elaine is the nutty, obsessive compulsive, opinionated woman, probably from being under the influence of the other three. Kramer plays the off the wall, slightly mental, wild haired, hyperactive type. Jerry on the other hand, is just Jerry. They all blend together to create a perfectly smooth treat for our eyes and ears. Also, because it is a comedy about events that the public can identify with, the sitcom instantly became a part of our television daily routine. I will elaborate on these theories responsible for Seinfeld's breakthrough and also try to provide some insight about why I love it.

Last, but certainly not least we have the glorious Michael Richards performing his role as Kramer. He brings a feature to the screen that is rarely ever seen. He utilizes a sense of depth while simultaneously producing hours of non-stop laughter. In each episode he explodes with erratic and over the edge on camera behavior. Kramer is spontaneous and irrational not to mention absolutely shocking. The best thing about him is that you just never know what he will do next, however one thing is for sure, it is guaranteed to make your eyes water and the milk come out your nose. Some people watch Seinfeld simply to watch Kramer behave like a crazed mental patient. Who can resist his hypnotizing charm and ridiculous demeanor? I have to say, personally, Kramer is my favorite. We all need a Kramer in their lives to keep us on our toes. He brings out the fun in all of us and it lets us watch someone else besides ourselves play the fool. Without him, Seinfeld would have a serious void and I cannot think of anyone better to fill it than Michael Richards.

Jerry's brilliant performances on the show earned him the 1992 and 1993 Comedy Awards for best actor in a comedy series. Even though the show demanded so much of his time, the first season began in 1990 and the last at the end of 1998, he still manages to remain one of the busiest and most popular stand up comedians in the country. His witty personality and natural charisma captivates our attention and keeps us laughing year after year. Jerry's contribution to the fearsome four is as important as the peanut butter in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It's great by itself, but even better with its complements. His character appeals to the sensible and laid back audience because they can relate.
