Things Fall Apart

In “Things Fall Apart” by Achebe, he shows the true culture and traditions of the Africans before European Colonization. He portrays the real complexity of their lives in every aspect of their society from kinship, religion, marriage, and even government. Achebe emphasizes the harmony and uniqueness of the Igbo culture and contradicts the stereotypical European representations of the Africans as barbarians.

One of the main focuses of the Igbo culture as defined in the novel is their style of government. They have a very intricate yet simple way to deal with issues involving the tribe. For example in chapter two when the Mbaino tribe killed a daughter of the Umuofia tribe they dealt with the matter in a very professional manner without using any form of violence. The main thing that makes me realize that life is full of important choices is the fact that we as people are faced with so many intricate and complicated situations. I don’t understand love and its affect on people and why it makes them do the weird things they do. I have feelings for him but I don’t know where its going to go, and if in person it will be the same. Now that ive already made so many mistakes, its too late, theres no t
