Greek Gods and Heroes
A detailed Summary of Greek Gods and Heroes
From the beginning of Greek culture, ancient people made up myths. Myths are stories about the things, which people believed in, that contain a supernatural element. I read one story introduction to mythology named How Mythology Works. Also I read another book that tells us about the glorious days when the gods ruled over the world. This story is named Greek Gods and Heroes by Robert Craves. After reading the whole book I have not still figured out, are any of these characters heroes? If a hero is a somebody who does something dangerous to help somebody else, then the heroes of Greek mythology don't qualify, except a few like Heracle and Jason. They were pretty selfish and not good models neither for the younger generation of today nor for us. Chapter XXII shows a selfish King Admetus and briefly notes about his courageous wife who sacrificed herself for her children's sake. King Admetus who had been gotten help from Apollo tried to find a substitute, but he didn't find. He asked his very old parents, and two wretched prisoners, and a poor man suffering from an incurable disease either, but no one wanted to die for him

. My topic point is a question: "Who loves the life?" Humans don't want to die; they love to live because life is unique and beauty.
After I read Greek Gods and Heroes through, I have learned a few things about Greek culture, and I have gotten more knowledge about Greek gods and heroes too, but this is just myth, not true story. Therefore I choused to write about four types of people who didn't want to die and I figured out that humans love the life and attempt to survive in the most awful situations. Who loves the life? All people love the life.
One more example shows us why the life has invaluable value. There were two prisoners who lived at the time of the King Admetus. They were wretched and poor men who had been spending their lives in the dungeon. They had been begging Admetus to put them out of their misery, but continued to stay in slave, so Admetus thought they would probably die for him because they lived terrible lives. Why did they want to live? These men had neither money nor land, nor power, but their hatred towards the King Admetus helped them in their situation. They told him, "The sooner you die, the happier we sh
