War in Afghanistan
On September 11th, 2001 our way of life, and our freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts that killed thousands of American citizens. The victims were in airplanes and in their offices; they were secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers, moms and dads, and friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror. President Bush made it clear, that whoever did this act, would pay for their actions. After finding out what terrorist carried this out, we began to declare war on them and on Afghanistan for harboring them. With some of the public divided on whether we should continue to attack Afghanistan, it is obvious we must not stop until successful of ridding terrorism. If we aren't successful, we run the risk of getting attacked again. To save the freedom of America, the U.S military should continue to attack Afghanistan until victorious. When the United States was attacked on September 11th, many Americans had no idea who and where Afghanistan was. Some Americans didn't know who the Taliban or Osama Bin Laden was. They do now. Ever since that fateful day, leading terrorist Osama Bin Laden an
There are many good reasons why Americans don't want to fight against Afghanistan but are they good enough to stop war? One of the most popular reasons people are swayed against war is because of its financial toll it takes on the U.S. According to Newsweek magazine, October 2001 Issue, the U.S is expected to spend over 1.5 billion dollars in military effort and humanitarian aid if the war continues through March. When seeing this figure, Americans are astonished. Most Americans look at this figure and argue that it is too expensive to fight the puny Taliban at this cost. Obviously they haven't looked in depth to this situation. The terrorists caused over 2.5 billion in damages in the September attacks. If a solution to terrorism isn't provided shortly, then that figure will rise every year along with American fatalities. The lasting financial effect will deal with the American economy. With terrorism fear, tourism will be down, more money will be spent on airport and other kinds of security and fearful Americans will do fewer things and tend to save more money than they spend.
