Flying can be a lovely experience when done right. If nothing goes wrong, such as being placed in a center seat between two obese men, flying can actually be quite relaxing. However, having the recent opportunity to fly frequently I have learned that the most exhilarating thing that can happen to a person while flying is to be bumped up to first class. The differences between first class and regular coach class can be classified into the following categories: better service, better food, and better opportunities. In coach I always thought that there was something better about first class, but I could never confirm those thoughts because the blue curtain that separates the two classes also completely obscures one's view of the next cabin. My imagination never reached the level that reality showed me to be true when I finally had the chance to be amongst the few to sit up front.

Flying first class affords the passengers many more opportunities that you can experience in coach. In first class you can sleep the whole time and no one will wake you. That is not true for coach, where you can be assured that more than twenty minutes of sleep is considered a luxury. In first class you can stretch out completely and fully enjoy the plush leather seating. In coach you can't even raise your arm without hitting the person next to you. In first class you can watch an array of films on your personal tv. In coach there is one movie being viewed from the front of the cabin, and chances are that you won't like it. In first class you are boarded first, and you exit the plane first. In coach you experience the "free-for-all"; long lines to get on the plane, and long lines to get off.
