Wake Up
We are approaching the point of no return, in terms of what makes this nation great. Now, we have already leaped grossly past the barrier or morality and decency in our society, but one of the few things that we have always been able to depend on is slowly slipping out of our grasp. Am I crazy? That's a possibility but let's leave that for another time. Every little disjointed, fragmented thought from Donald "Rummy" Rumsfeld or from our drug-enthusiast president (soon to be dictator) sickens me. We are following blindly into the shadows of the unknown. Every reporter is labeled unpatriotic and purposely not allowed to do their jobs by reporting from the front lines. I would say I have a worldly perspective and am not like most at this university, who can not see things from the point of view of the blue collared workers that make this nation as great as it is or even that inner-city family struggling to get by while others generalize about their lives. I am a realist, I am a person that derives my optimism from seeing someone arrive at his or her goal, rather than seeing my objective accomplished. That is why I cannot measure success by money or fame or even number of casualties, innocent and otherwise, but as an intangible ideal that may not arrive but still you grasp for that chance that it is there. point of the 50's with McCarthyism, but now instead of being in fear of being called Communist, we have to cower in the presence being unpatriotic. We are perpetuating things that don't need to be prolonge
