The career I chose was Computer Engineer. Computer Engineers work with the hardware and software aspects of computer design and development. They use science and mathematics to develop new kinds of hardware and software and also solve technical problems. Computer engineers usually work as part of a team rather than by themselves. Computer hardware engineers usually design, develop, test and supervise the manufacture of computer hardware- such as chips or device controllers. Software engineers usually research, design, and test operating system software that helps run your computer.

Computer engineers usually need a bachelor's degree in computer engineering or electrical engineering. The median yearly income for computer engineers was $61,910 in 1998; the lowest ten- percent earned less than $37,150 and the highest ten- percent earned more than $92,850.

ices or laboratories in comfortable surroundings. They usually work about 40 hours a week, but sometimes evening and weekend work is necessary to meet deadlines or solve technical problems. Since technology is increasing as we enter the 21st century, computer engineers are now able to solve these specific problems from remote locations via the Internet.
