~What were the origins of the Korean War and what were the lessons learner or unlearned?
The causes or events that would lead to the start of the Korean War are numerous. With the start of the Korea War, the North Korean troops marched all the way to the southern most tip of Korea in less than three weeks. At that point it was obvious that it wasn't going to be an easy war, not like any war is ever easy though.
The problems started within the country at first. It was just completely chaotic. After the Japanese control over Korea ended, there was not a single able government ready to run the country. So small civil wars began to erupt. Nothing major though. It was just a start. The war began by the North Korea's claiming that the South Korea's attacked them although there was no evidence s
upporting this. Not saying that they didn't for the South Korea president, Syngman Rhee, wanted to "liberate his countrymen" from the other side of the 38th parallel. There is some strong evidence that points to the North Korean's attacking the South Korean's because the Soviets, their ally, didn't send a veto to the UN which would have stopped the US's interference in the war and the North Korean's would have surely won.
The effects of the Korean War were great and widespread. Not really directly but indirectly mainly. Many anti-communist policies were put into place. The US had all kinds of policies directed towards communism after the war. These policies also made the United States presence in Asia very great for there were many countries over they're tittering on the edge of communism an
