Literary Analysis on Rainbow Six
I chose Rainbow Six for my reader analysis review because the main character trait is being a leader which there are many of, and because of the real life leadership application (and fiction is more fun to read). By this I mean that it's not a book discussing the theories on what makes an effective leader, but more of an illustrative example of an effective leader leaving the readers to reflect on why. However it's my personal opinion on why the characters are effective leaders and why leadership is the dominating character trait. However I will be focusing on Domingo Chavez because of how dominate the character trait of leadership is present in him.Story Summary (don't read if you don't want to know the ending): Tom Clancy continues the saga of John Clark, an ex-CIA, ex-Seal operative, who is the head of an anti-terrorist special task force called Rainbow. Leadership Traits of Domingo Chavez: Lead by Example: One of the best leadership qualities that Ding demonstrated was his ability to lead by example. Not only did he train with the troops during their physical training, but he the first to be out there, thus leading by example. He also never asked his men to do anything that he himself would not do such as going on covert missions, or leaving his wife and newborn son to take on the next mission. Competition was also another quality that he instilled in his men by leading through example. Although he was not physically the best, he often pushed himself to during training exercises, and this in turn inspired his men to train harder. Domingo Chavez, also know as Ding by him team is the leader of Rainbow Team 2. Ding had roughly 8 people under his command, and although he was not the head of Rainbow, I felt he displayed the most effective leadership qualities. Although this was in a military setting, I felt that these leadership qualities also pertain to a more general context.
