"From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life;" (Prologue) In the prologue, Shakespeare decides to tell the audience that two lovers, Romeo and Juliet, are going to die, and in telling us so, seals their fate. Yet, the concept of fate is throughout the play, and with the lovers being, "star-crossed," (Prologue) indicates that fate is against them. In the end, fate is the means death for not only the lovers, but Tybalt, Mercutio, Paris, and Lady Montague. All the events lead into one another, resulting in a huge snowball of events, what set this off in the first place was the Capulet servant, who did not know how to read, stumbles upon Romeo and Benvolio, and asks Romeo to read the list of people that are invited to the party that his master, Lord Capulet is holding. It is fate that brings the trio together, and it is fate that Rosaline is going to the party too, but this may not the only reason. Even though Romeo and Juliet are the main characters throughout the play, the other characters influence them and guide them through. The Nurse is undoubtedly on Juliet's side and will back her up on almost any decision. While Friar Lawrence is totally loyal to Romeo, unlike the Nurse, sees the bigger picture and tries to help as much as he can. If the Nurse did not convey Romeo's proposal of marriage, then the lovers would not have married so early and might not have died. If Friar Lawrence did not agree to wed the two lovers, then they might still be alive. Yet, the family feud between the two families might be one of the reasons why the two lovers died. If the two families, was at peace with each other instead of at war, Romeo and Juliet, need not conceal their actions and if the war between the families did not exist then the lovers would have certainly not died.
