How to Build the Ultimate PC
For the case I chose the AOpen HX08 full tower ATX computer case. It comes with 7 high expansion slots and 13 drive bays to allow upgrade to your hearts content. Its dimensions are 420mm depth x 590mm height x 198mm width. Bend in edges ensures safe assembly and installation so you won't get cut. It has three 8cm fans and holes poked into the case to ensure cooling. I would upgrade the 300-watt power supply that comes with the case to the Enermax EG651P-VE power supply, which is 550 watts. For the processor I chose the 2.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor that is also the fastest on the market. It has a 400 MHz front side bus with 512kb cache. To be able to harvest this processor I would buy the ASUS P4T-E motherboard. The motherboard has 5 PCI slots, 4 USB ports, an ATA 100 controller, one 4x AGP pro slot, system bus speed up to 400mhz, memory capacity of 2GB, it uses the Intel 850 chipset, and uses PC 800 RDRAM. Next up I would buy two single Toshiba 512mb PC 800 RDRAM chips to have a total of 1024MB of ram. Toshiba offers a lifetime warranty with these. The more RAM that your computer haves, the faster it can perform and prevent lockups. I would add the Adaptec ASC-29160N Ultra SCSI adapter. It is the fastest SC
Now I need to provide a NIC card. I choose the Intel PRO/100 S. A network interface card is often used for broadband modems and. Broadband modems can outperform a regular 56k modem by 10 times. Some companies that support broadband are Verizon and Time Warner. Verizon uses an access called DSL while Time Warner uses Cable. The card is good for home or office use. It allows speeds up to 100Mb. Creative is known for making the best sound cards on the market. The Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum 5.1 is the best one they have to offer. It has the best signal to noise ratio at 100db, max sampling rate of 48 kHz, 48 midi channels, carries the new EAX Advanced HD to deliver high definition audio effects, and can support up to 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer. It comes with a special drive that requires 1 of the case's 7 expansion slots. The special drive is called the Audigy drive. The front panel of the Audigy drive has connectors for analog or digital devices including home-stereo receivers, Optical DATs, MIDI devices, and professional audio gear. Devices like DV Camcorders, digital audio players, external hard drives, and high speed CD-RWs can connect to its special port the SB1394. From games, listening to music, and creating your own personal home studio, this does it all. To take full advantage of the sound I use the Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 speakers. It has 4 side speakers, 1 front channel speaker, and 1 subwoofer. The Klipsch is THX certified providing the most satisfying surround sound experience available for multimedia applications. It has a total power of 500 watts. With 6 expansion slots left out of the 7 I am going to add some ROM drives. The first rom drive I would add would be the AOpen 1640 Pro DVD ROM. It has a DVD playback speed of 16x and CD rom speed of 48x. 16x is the fastest DVD playback speed Additionally with the DVD rom I am going to add the Real Magic Hollywood Plus MPEG-2 decoder which can increase the picture quality of a DVD movie. It takes up a PCI slot. The decoder decodes the DVD for you so the CPU, video card, and memory wont have
