During the day, the sun beat down on the sand making it shine white. The water glistened with the rays of the sun as if hundreds upon hundreds of diamonds were floating in this vast spectacle before me. Every day we went to the beach by the summer cabin. I would sit on the edge of the water and watch as children and adults were brought together with love for the ocean. Every now and then I would catch a fleeting glimpse of a fish jumping free in the ocean, or a crab burrowing himself a new home in the sand. Sometimes if I looked out far enough you could see the different boats going back and forth looking for fish, and shrimp and whatever else this treasure chest held. Some of the shells scattered across the edge where water meets land were so incredibly beautiful, I had to pick some up and keep them for memories. Iridescent pearl colored, dark silver, and brightly colored purple shells filled my pockets. At night the city across the bay lit up with lights every night as the night life of Corpus Christi continued. I would sit on the deck and watch the moonrise as the sun set. The moonlight shone upon the water, as if sharing some secret story among its inhabitants. I can still close my eyes and vividly see it all.
