Capital Punishment
One issue that has the entire American society confused and divided is capital punishment. Indeed, capital punishment is certainly a complex debate, and people don’t seem to agree upon a decision about the issue, which is why I think it is such an interesting topic. The fact is capital punishment has existed for a long time, and yet it is still an actual issue. The debate has gotten very heated between those for and those against the capital punishment, each side proposing good support and valid reasons about their position on the issue. In my first source “The death penalty”, Roger Hood proposes a wide prospective of capital punishment worldwide. From Europe to Asia, from South Africa to the United States, a worldwide review of the death penalty has been carried out. The author proposes inquires about the death penalty issues in the major countries concerned with many sources relating to the period up to the end of 1995. Hood points out the fact that many of those countries offer no statistics of death sentences or executions.
