Informal Persuasive Essay

I would like to petition the administration of the Science Academy to remove a few unnecessary ordinances which many might find unpleasant, and create a couple of pleasant, helpful new ones I have in mind. Our school, though largely Perfect, has a few perks that could definitely be improved, all of which are so small that no one has bothered about them until now, even if they can get pretty annoying. Our largely Perfect school will become more so, I'm sure, if the changes I suggest are enforced.

I'll start with a simple problem. I have recently noticed that the library has ceased its practice of lending floppy disks for student emergencies, because students have made off with them and they've run out of floppies. Instead, they began selling reformatted old ones for a quarter; then, upon running out of these, they purchased new ones and began selling those for a dollar. I'm sure students don't come to the library to purchase computer equipment. If they want a floppy, they want to use it temporarily for some school assignment; it's ironic that the library, a place of borrowing, actually sells most of its field computer tools. Furthermore, a student may borrow zip disk at the library, a more advanced piece of equipment with

Finally, I'd like to inform you that everyone hates the pass-to-get-in-during-lunch system, as you probably already know. It's necessary to cover your butts, of course (not to be vulgar or accusative; we all must cover our butts; plus, it really does do a lot of good by preventing all the hall chaos typically found at Med High), but it's not all necessary. I mean come on; those remarkably zealous janitors pouncing on any innocent ninth-grader who tries to sneak discreetly across a mere piece of school? We don't really need that much security.

the same function, at no charge; and yet, upon desperately requesting a floppy, he is not informed of this.

This problem has a simple solution that benefits everyone. The library should always keep a substantial cache of floppies available either for purchase, at a slightly increased price for fundraising, or for floppy emergencies. In the event of such an emergency, a student should be allowed to borrow a floppy, but pay the standard purchase cost for the item if he is unable to replace it by a certain date; it might be a little fairer to charge a portion of the price for floppies that are only late, though. This way, the school has their floppy-money secure, and the child has his floppy (and his quarters). Additionally, students should be aware of all of the resources offered to them at the library, else their availability be put to waste; a big, colorful poster with all of their highlight check-out and information-gathering capabilities at the library
