The computer I own now is a Dell. I have been very happy with it up until it crashed. That really made me mad about my computer. The model of my Dell computer is a Dimension 4100. It has a Pentium III Processor. The Pentium III Processor is at 733 MHz. It also has 128 MB of SDRAM at 133 MHz. My computer also has a CD-RW, which has three burning speeds. These burning speeds are 8x/4x/32x. It also has a 12X max variable DVD ROM drive, with a Harmon Kardon HK-595 surround sound speaker system with a nine-inch subwoofer. I also receive

A tuff decision that I have to make is what kind of computer do I want. Would I rather have a Mac or a PC? There are ups and downs to owning either one. The good thing about a Mac is that they are coming out with a lot of revolutionary things. Since I am very into music I would want to get the iPOD as well. Mac's are also extremely good computers to use for editing. The Mac's come with very user-friendly programs, which are very easy to use as a first timer. On the other hand Mac's are also very selfish. It seems like programs and additional peripherals for Mac's are a bit pricey. Plus not just any program will work for a Mac; you have to get programs that were designed for Mac's. PC's also have their own ups and downs too. On the upside the PC's are a bit more affordable and come with a lot of extra goodies. They are also easy to use and it is a lot easier to find programs to use of your PC. The programs are easier to find because all PC's use the same kind of programs, which can be shared between different types of computers. This comes in handy when most of you friends, like mine, have PC's. We can share the programs with each other or do projects on each others computers without worrying about if the format is right or not. The PC's do have their downsides too though. The technology is a bit behind that of the Mac, and I know more people who have had PC's crash on them then the people I know who have Mac's.

If I were able to get a new computer I would want one that was really fast. I would probably pick a Pentium processor over a Celeron processor. The reason I would pick a Pentium is because they are faster and are better for streaming video and are generally faster. I would choose to get the Pentium 4, or whatever new processor that comes out by the time I finish this paper. The processor would have to be at least an 800mgz processor, because I want to have a desktop computer. I would want the computer to have quite a bit of RAM. RAM is what helps determine how many programs can effectively be open and running simultaneously. I would be downloading music, movies, and hopefully editing digital videos and pictures. I also play online games so I would need a lot of RAM. I think I will start with a minimum of 256MB of RAM, and if I realize that I need to add more I will do so in the future.

Since I love music and will also be watching a lot of DVD's on my computer I am going to want a really good sound system. I would get a four speaker surround sound system. But no sound system is complete without a sub woofer. I would probably get at least and eight inch sub woofer. No matter how good the sound system is I would have to make sure that there is a headphones jack because I am considerate of my roommates.

Another peripheral that I would get for my computer would be the keyboard and mouse. Most people might not think as these to be very important but to me they are. If you are going to be sitting at your computer writing a lot of papers or just doing work on the computer you are going to want a keyboard that does what you want it to. My keyboard would have one touch Internet connection buttons, and would also have the quiet keys. The keyboard would also be one that helps reduce pains in the wrists or hands. The mouse that I would want would not be a standard rolling ball, but an optical mouse. The reason I would not want to have the rolling ball mouse is because dust and other particles get picked up by the ball and deposits on the other moving parts, which causes them to jam and not work as well. For me this is a big deal when it comes to playing online games like counter strike, day of defeat, or team fortress where pinpoint accuracy is need. The optical mouse does not have any moving parts; it works by laser, which gives it more accuracy and less chances of failure or inaccuracy. The mouse that I get will have two buttons on top and in between the two buttons
