Emily Dickenson

Psychologists and researchers in the field of psychology often contemplate whether nature or nurture has the greater effect that determines the behavioral patterns in humans. Psychologists try numerous experiments on people to help them gain information to support their viewpoint whether it is nature or nurture. There are certain variables that lean supporters of either side to believe nature or nurture determines behavior; however, those variables are subject to change throughout the experiment that can completely change the outcome. This controversial question exists whenever an experiment is performed.

Studies, such as identical twins separated at birth; support the theory that the genetic make-up has the greater influence on human behavior. In this study, psychologist record that the separated identical twins growing up in different environments have the very similar behavioral patterns; for example, the twins in some studies have had the same preference in companions, animals, and job interest. This is one of the leading resources that make some researchers believe nature determines the behavioral pattern. The psychologists on the nature side of the issue use studies from generation to genera

Psychologists gain information from experiments used in studying perception. It is a given that all people perceive things differently but, in certain situations people think alike. Psychologist take the environment and the genetics of a person into account because that is the total make up of how a person perceives the stimuli put in his or her life. Psychologists do many test and case studies to determine the differences and similarities among humans in their perception. In experiments such as ones where people are asked to describe their thought process on certain topics, psychologists determine what stimuli triggers certain reactions and they can try to pattern these reactions.

tion to show that skill and behavior are passed genetically and not influenced so much by the environment that surrounds them.

Everyone perceives things in different ways. All human brains process what they see in a different way from the person next to them. This is evident because people have differences of opinions about all subject matters. The way people perceive something is what has been instilled in their mind. The environment around people when they are brought up in life greatly affects and biases the way they perceive certain stimuli. The genetics given to them at conception determine the reaction to stimuli people encounter as well. As a result of studies on certain controlled objects such as music, pictures and other people and the reaction different reactions people give, psychologists are able to make the conclusion that people perceive things differently by their response to the action or object.

The process of perception occurs when a certain stimuli is taken in. This process involves afferent neurons receiving the information from any of the senses including; sight, smell, touch, hearing, and taste. Then the process continues when the brain accepts the information as known information or foreign information and the
