The two most important aspects of being physically fit are exercise and proper diet. How does this tie into what we have learned in class? In general, a physically fit person has a much greater chance of being mentally fit. You are able to process information faster. You are more alert and energetic. Your overall appearance becomes more admirable and respectful. Haven't you ever felt a little intimidated from someone you just met and who is 6'1, 245 pounds and solid muscle. It is natural for us, more so for males, to feel uncomfortable when we meet someone who is more physically dominate than ourselves. I am not saying that we are scared, but there is that tiny feeling of defensiveness that we feel. This feeling is the same for every other creature in the animal kingdom, although to greater degree. Small male crocodiles give way to larger males. The Largest lion will always dominate their pride. It is not coincidence that the larger wolves in a pack will eat first. Let us take two people, the first person: small, frail, average looking, and carries a little body fat, and a second person who has a strong, good-looking, powerful body. However, if a person is an ass, even if you think like Einstein and have the body of Hercules, you will never be completely respected. A good personality is important as well. The combination of all three can really give someone a head start in the corporate world. These traits will allow you to take on more leadership roles and feel more comfortable performing as a leader. While having more confidence in yourself, other people are easier drawn to you and listen more to what you have to say. Overall, the benefits of living healthy outweigh the costs. What is an extra four hours a week spent cooking and working out. You cannot place a price on your health. All you need to do is ask yourself "is the five minutes of pleasure from eating at Ci Ci's or Burger King worth the pound of fat that you will have to carry?" Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the world. I mention cancer because two months before Kim and I met, her father passed away from prostate cancer. He was 76 years old. I have spent many nights listening, just listening, to Kim tell about him. He was a brilliant businessman and traveled to almost every country in the world. Kim tells of his ability to capture an audience and mesmerize people when he spoke. After listening to so many stories, I feel as if I had known him all of my life. Yet, I have never heard his voice. I wish I could have listened to his stories, especially the stories about Kim. His death, however, was the channel that brought our relationship to the highest level. From the sleepless nights that I spent talking and crying with Kim to help her cope with her father's death came a bond that will last forever. There is no excuse for being obese.
