David and Goliath
The story of David and Goliath has been told for more than two thousand years. It has also raised the interests of historians to see if the story can be proven. Now, before we make any conclusions, about the story, there are several questions we need to ask: could David have killed a person with a sling, could the place where the battle happened existed, and the final thing we need to ask ourselves is, could giants have existed two thousand years ago? Now before we talk about David's ability to kill a person with a sling, we need to familiarize ourselves with the weapon David used. The sling, used at the time of the battle, may have been made out of woven fibers and some sort of animal hide. The next question we need to think about is, was the sling around during the time of David's existence? The answer is yes. "Carbon dating has shown that prehistoric man not only used the sling, but hunted with it as well" (Tunis 15). Now after having taken part in the "SHSU Great Sling Research Project" I have come to a conclusion. A person, if given enough time, could become skilled with a sling. One more thing that gives this idea credit is the fact that, David was able to scare off, or even kill, anima
In conclusion, why couldn't the story of David and Goliath be true? For example, many of the Viking folk lore has been pasted down from generation to generation, through word of mouth. Most of those stories have been written down. Now if those stories were important enough for people to memorize, and eventually write them down, why would the Bible be any different? If you really think about it, isn't that what Bible is. A collection of stories that have been written down over time. There are stories in there stating that the good book itself was past on from person to person. So ultimately, if the stories in the Bible were important enough to write down, there must be some truth to them. Why would a religion be based on false stories? In my opinion I don't think they were. If you look at every historical underdog, they have won. To me there are two things that make those stories true, Faith and the belief that there is a God. ls that might have harmed his flock of sheep. Why was David so good with a sling? He was out watching his sheep day in and day out for years with nothing else to do, but practice throwing his sling. He must have become dangerously accurate with his weapon. There are many places that historians thought never existed. For example, Troy was thought to have been part of a fictional story writte
