A detailed Summary of Ethical Behavior

I do not believe that we can know if our behaviors are ethical. There have been great changes in the past decade but many of these have led to differing ethical opinions. Many people have turned to the law for the answers and other to their religion. Since there are so many opinions it becomes harder to find one that you can personally agree with, and once you do you find an opinion you agree with you are not able to know if it is still the right opinion. It has become hard in our age to find an opinion that can be proven completely wrong, because of this we cannot know if our behavior is ethical.

Capital punishment is a great example of how we cannot know if our behavior is ethical. Throughout the ages, the death penalty has been used as one of the severe ways to punish or deter people from breaking all range of laws from petty theft to murder. Capital punishment is a great example of how there are no set ethics. Over the years, in the United States, the standards for sentencing the ultimate punishment have changed. There are also no set ethical standards in the field of cloning. For years, clones have been the subject of popular fiction, but the technology was lacking. Now the ethics of doing so must be carefully considered. While almost all world health and religious bodies are coming out in opposition to the idea, it must be accepted that someone somewhere will try it. What immediately springs to mind for most people with the possibility of cloning whole people are the ideas of creating supermen or a master race. This is one of the reasons many people are against cloning. In contrast to this some would say that cloning would not be used for a super race but more for eugenics. Eugenics is the social concern of evolution. Those for cloning would say that eugenics aims to increase reproduction of individuals who have traits, such as high intelligence and physical strength or fitness, which is considered to be valuable to society and they also seeks to decrease reproduction among people believed to be inferior or below average mentally and physically. Many opposed to this claim that cloning will lead to no originality and to a master race. They have even gone as far as to say that cloning will lead to a new age of Nazism. Still we see that both sides have good points, yet neither is more right then the other. Once again we see that an ethical standard can not be made.
