Decision Gone Wrong

A detailed Summary of Decision Gone Wrong

In my life, sometimes I wonder if things I come across have made a great impact on my life. Most of the time I just move about day-to-day letting unexciting occurrences guide my way through it. I usually do not like to think about things that make me sad or worried. These types of things cause too much stress and cause illness in many Americans today. It is much easier for me to be happy and unaware of bad possibilities than it is to keep an open mind about what could be lurking around any corner. I would like to think that I am no different from anyone else. I love to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures in life while feeling satisfied with happiness. I try to stay carefree and untarnished by thoughts of grief and sorrow. I think it was my happy-go-lucky attitude that did not prepare me for the tragedy that I came upon, but not many things could prepare a person for that.

The situation that I came upon I was really unprepared for. The misfortunate position I was put in only gave me two choices to make. Should I stay or leave? In high school, I played football under a coach that strongly felt that people are responsible for their own actions. Through four years of blood, sweat, and pain, responsibility was in grave

To this day I still wonder how it happened, and whom it happened to?

We were traveling at about 55 miles per hour because of the terrible downpour. As I was driving, a broken down car was on the side of the road. At first it seemed innocent, just another motorist in need of assistance. But as we drew closer to the vehicle, we could see lights flickering like lightning bugs on a warm spring night. Then almost out of nowhere another car just seemed to be in the middle of the road and debris strung all across the road. It was not the scenario that neither my friend nor I were looking forward to, because we knew what was waiting for us outside.

I yelled at my friend and he just stood there like a zombie or something. I then took his arm and pulled him to the car. I shouted at him, "Lets get the fuck out of here!" He seemed to snap out of the daze he was in and jumped into the car. I stood by the car door looking into the darkness once again in awe of what the hell just happened. I really do not know how long I stood there but it seemed like time stopped. The wind died down in an instant, and the rain stopped from a straight downpour. It seemed like a moment straight out of a movie. It was just then that I realized something was moving about 25 feet away in the ditch. Almost immediately after that, I noticed a faint pair of headlights in the distance down the highway. I got into the car and slammed on the gas. I must have been going over 100 miles per hour for a while from my adrenaline injected body. I finally began to slow down. I also realized that it had started raining again. As the ride went on we drove in silence and arrived at my friend's house. I had no intention of watching the news the next day or the day after. I was so overtaken by fear and anxiety; I drove away from a seen of a terrible accident and broke who knows how many serious laws.

The situation that my friend and I faced that day one can never really prepare for. If it happened to me again, I would really like to help the accident victims. But the truth is I really do not know how I would react again to that type of situation. To me it is like a shot in the dark. That night was almost like a nightmare, wishing I had woken up sometime after it occurred, but I never did. Last semester I took a class called First Aid and Safety, and got certified in C.P.R. and First Aid Workplace Training. This class neve
