Everyone knows about how Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492, and how his journey to Asia turned out to be America. But I'm going to tell you the other side of Columbus, like how many brothers and sisters he had, and other things about him before and after he took his journey. I thought it might be interesting to tell you about some things that you probably didn't know about Columbus.
In 1451 Susanna Fontanarossa, wife of Domenico Colombo gave birth to their fist child Christoforo Colombo, in the city of Genoa. He was the fist born he was the oldest of his three brothers and one sister. His three brothers were Giovanni, Bartolomeo, and Giacomo. The name of his one sister was Bianchinetta.

In 1479 Columbus married a lady from Portugal. Her name was Felipa Perestrelo. In 1480 Felipa gave birth to a boy Diego. Unfortunately not to long later in the year Felipa passed away. Diego, their son ended up becoming second admiral of the Indies.
Columbus married again into nobility, which was very important to his quest to sail the open sea. He married Beatriz Enrique and had their second child Fernando. Fernando grew up to be his father's biographer and historian charting the life and times of his father.
Columbus had a notion that if he sailed west he would find an easier route to Asia. Columbus set sail on August 3, 1492 on his voyage to Asia. That voyage in 1492 became his most famous voyages Columbus ever took. After his discovery of what he thought was Asia, Colum
