By this way, students can understand the differences between cultures and this makes a way for peace. They can also gain the ability of adaptation, independent thinking, and build self-sacrifice because they need to learn the way to survive in the new culture. They are alone to decide the bests for them and they have to endure their choices' consequences. However, the people who are against exchange programs say that the students try to adapt to a different culture and they have some problems such as "cultural shock".
