Importance of Love
In both the Poem, "A Dream Deferred," by Langston Hughes, and the play Romeo & Juliet, by Shakespeare, the importance of dreams is demonstrated using different literary devices. In the poem, "A Dream Deferred," Langston Hughes uses the literary devices of Personification and simile to show the importance of dreams. In the play, Romeo & Juliet, Shakespeare demonstrates the importance of dreams using the literary devices of Personification and hyperbole. In, "A Dream Deferred," Langston Hughes uses similes to show the importance of dreams, "Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun." Romeo is saying that he would be newly baptized, which is an exaggeration because he is just trying to show his feelings for her.
