Leonardo Da Vinci's family was never supportive of him until he became an artist. His father was a wealthy Florentine notary named Ser Piero da Vinci. His mother, Catherina was a poor, peasant girl with artistic talent, which became the basis of Leonardo's talent. Before living with his father and his wife, Leonardo spent the first 4 years of his life living with his Mother in a small village outside of Florence.

It was such an incredible crime, that the Mona Lisa wasn't even noticed missing until the following day. Two years went by with no word about the real Mona Lisa. Finally, Leonardo Vincenzo, whose real name was Vincenzo Peruggia, was arrested. Vincenzo Peruggia, born in Italy, had worked in Paris at the Louvre in 1908. Still known by many of the guards, Peruggia had walked into the museum, noticed the Salon Carre empty, grabbed the Mona Lisa, went to the staircase, removed the painting from its frame, and walked out of the museum with the Mona Lisa under his painting smock. The Mona Lisa is still located in Paris, France in a display for the public to view.
