Romeo And Juliet

There have been many speculations about the cause of the tragic ending in the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Some say it was a tragedy of character and some a tragedy of fate. Both of them play a big part in the development of the storyline. The two "star-crossed" lovers are faced with a dilemma because of their "rival" families. And it is no coincidence that events occur that lead to their deaths. Many facts come to prove that it really was a tragedy of character.

Right at the beginning, in the prologue, it is learned that the families of Romeo and Juliet, the Capulets and the Montagues, have been in a vicious feud for a very long time. This immediately starts a connection between the two lovers. The families are extremely aggressive towards each other and are always causing trouble in Verona where they live. This comes to show that their encounter was not leaded by fate but becaus


For the reasons above, it is proved that Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy of character. Characters in the play caused events that guided the lover's deaths. Many aspects of this play would have been different if the characters reacted differently. Their ways of being is what ultimately got Romeo and Juliet to their tragic conclusion. All in all, the traits of the characters are what affected everything and they are what make this play so popular and controversial.

Romeo and Juliet met at a Capulet party and from there they were immediately attracted to one another. Then after about four days, with only two encounters, the couple got secretly married. Love at first sight is something that has always been speculated about. The lovers claimed it was love at first sight but they never lived to see if they were right or not. They rushed too quickly into a relationship and that is what hurt them the most
