By definition, misdemeanor theft is a crime of theft that is somewhat less serious than a felony. In other words, the object of theft is under fifty dollars in value. Before one commits an act of misdemeanor theft, there are three very important areas of life that will be affected and therefore must be considered: the individual's future, the individual's family, and the other consumers of society.

Stealing from a store causes that store to have SHRINK, or loss of potential profit, so for every potential dollar that they lose due to shrink, they are forced to raise the prices across the board to compensate.
