A Rose For Miss Emily
A detailed Summary of A Rose For Miss Emily
Did you think the town's people treated Emily Grierson fairly or too severe?
In response to the story "A Rose For Emily" I certainly believe the town's people treated Ms Emily fairly. Ms Emily was a very anti-social individual she never took the time to communicate with the locals, so in exchange the people in the town didn't know what was going on in Ms Emily's personal life they only assumed. After the death of Ms Emily's father she could have attempted to establish a personal relationship with the town's people, but instead she began to stay indoor more often. Emily's behavior was more reclusive, she projected herself to be worthy than other women; it was said that the Griersons held themselves too high. Basically, the harsh treatment that was given to the people in the town was reciprocated.
According to the narrator, the town's people knew Emily's father was dead and that she kept the body for three days before breaking down and turning his body over to the morgue. After the death of Emily's father the town's people decided to check on her out of curiosity instead of pity; in any event, if another person was suppose to project such psychotic behavior as Ms Emily did most likely the authorities wouldn't have waited

In retrospect, the town's people could have projected some aggression towards Ms Emily in more that one situation but they did not because they respected a lady of her status. For instance, Emily's refusal to respond to the Mayor's letters, and also tolerating the foul smell around Emily's property. Even Judge Stevens didn't want to send word to Ms Emily notifying her of the foul smelling place. And also when they did not like to see Ms Emily with Homer Barron instead of addressing her they notify a family member. Bluntly, Ms Emily displayed traits of being a stubborn woman.
In addition of Ms Emily's uncooperative behavior, next comes the unpleasant smell around Ms Emily's property but after all, Judge Stevens did not attempt to insult Ms Emily regarding the foul smell around her property. By all means, Judge Stevens went out of his way by getting four men to basically burglarize themselves onto Ms Emily's property. Instead they went out of their way to accommodate Ms Emily by getting four of their men to sanitize Ms Emily's property by breaking the cellar door and sprinkle lime there as well as the outbuildings. Furthermore, Judge Stevens also made excuses for Ms Emily by
