"Fantasy is usually employed to designate a conscious breaking free from reality.
The term is applied to a work that takes place in a non-existent and fictitious world"
(Flint Thrall William. "The Handbook to Literature)" such as fairyland, or concerns
incredible and imaginary characters such as dwarves, giants, and other non-realistic
"They are (or were) a little people, about half our height, and smaller than the bearded dwarves. Hobbits have no beards. There is no little magic
Fantasy may have a dream like logicality and episodic structure or it makes use of many Nordic myths. "Both kind of fantasy are open to Allegorical, or symbolic interpretation" as seen in Lin Carter's, Imaginary World (1973). (Tolkien p.27)
