Gay Marriages
The two articles, ?Gay marriage?? and ?The case for Gay Marriage,? present an argument between conservativeness and modern society which tends to accept new norms. Homosexuality is rejected by all major religions around the globe. However, this new concept of homosexuality is present in various states in America. The article ?Gay marriage, an Oxymoron? by Lisa Schiffren, presents an argument from religious, traditional and conservative perspective. On the other hand, the second article ?The case of Gay (and Straight) Marriage? by Jonathan Rauch, shows homosexuality with a modern point of view. Modern point of views composes the newer more tolerant society unlike the orthodox religious and traditional societies. Both articles present different definitions for marriage itself. Schiffren argues that marriage is a contract between two people for producing children. Whether the man loves his spouse or not, they both can still be married. Rauch on the other hand describes marriage as ?love? and contradicts the conservatives? point of view of marriage.
