Jury of Her Peers

"Jury of her Peers", written by Susan Glaspell, contains many conflicts to reveal

thoughts or ideas that clash. The main conflict in this short story is women versus men.

Mrs. Hale also has an emotional conflict with herself. The murder of Mr. Wright has all

the characters searching for evidence to convict Mrs. Wright. Mr. Hale, Mr. Peters, and

Young Henderson, the men, pursue extremely hard to find any hard evidence that will

incriminate Mrs. Wright. Mrs. Hale feels at fault for not ever going to see her, she feels if

she had gone to see her more often the murder would not have occurred. Mrs. Peters also

has conflict with herself, she must decide whether to remain faithful to her husband or go

along with Mrs. Hale, a woman. Conflicts in a story create a sense of excitement to keep
