Never Again (The Holocaust)

One word has the ability to speak of mass destruction, devastation, pain and cruelty. This single word has the ability to make your stomach churn and heart ache. This solitary word surrounds the massacre of six million people. This lone word is Holocaust. Who is to blame, and why is it so important not to let something like it happen again?

There were many causes that led to the Holocaust, and many historians have debated them ever since. Most place the blame on Adolf Hitler. Some historians have placed the blame on the people around the death camps in Eastern Europe for letting the Nazi's scare them into submission. However, one of the most disturbing articles I read denied that the Holocaust had even happened, claimed that it was a myth.

When researching the Holocaust I decided to take a look at the plan, Hitler's Mein Kampf was the blueprints to the holocaust. In an excerpt from Mein Kampf he explains that he thinks he will be enacting the will of god by exterminating all "lower peoples" :

"...today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord" [Mein Kampf p. 60]

The effects of the holocaust are immeasurable, over six million lives were lost. Families torn apart, destroyed. It has taught us that hate is too strong, we MUST not allow an atrocity like this to occur again. We need to speak up for others,

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."

A professor of mine often quotes someone who said, "History doesn't repeat itself, it rhymes." We can not allow a rhyme happen to the holocaust not ever!!!

For every website I found with accurate information on the Holocaust, I found another website, with information supporting the "fraud theory" that would be comparable to that found in "The National Enquirer."

Another cause that some historians argue is that it was the fault of the people of Eastern Europe. That they allowed the Holocaust to happen., by ignoring the horrible laws put into effect by the Nazi party. For example, there was a law that stated anyone caught selling meat to a Jew would be jailed and fined, and the Jew caught purchasing the meat would be sent off to a "work camp" the Europeans did nothing to stop these laws.

I leave you with the words of Anne Frank in hopes that they will strike you as they have me.

I find that the scariest thing is th
