How Hitler turned a Democratic Germany into a fascist regime

Adolf Hitler regarded as many as the most evil person in history, was able to turn a democratic Germany into a fascist regime by supposed legal tactics. But Hitler also used non-legal ways of gaining widespread support throughout Germany. Some of the ways he gained power were: The Reichstag Fire, his SA, (or Storm Troopers), the night of long knives, and the enabling act.

The Chancellorship was by no means Hitler's final goal. He intended to become dictator of a Nazified Germany. The first stage of his takeover was he Reichstag elections. On February 24th, Hitler's storm troopers raided Communist headquarters in Berlin. Claiming they had found plans for a Communist uprising, they had actually uncovered a list of members for a communist party, and intended to arrest all 4000 of them.

Goring and Gobbels, with Hitler's approval, then hatched a plan to cause havoc with the German people, by burning the Reichstag, and blaming it on the Communists. The Reichstag building was in Berlin, and was where the members of the republic met to conduct the daily business of government.

In August 1933 a law passed that enabled married couples to obtain loans to set up homes and start families. To pay for this single men and childless couples were taxed more heavily.

On the 29th of June, Hitler, accompanied by the SS, arrived at Weisee, where he personally arrested Ernst Roehm. During the next 24 hours 200 other SA officials were arrested. Many of them were shot, but Hitler decided to excuse Roehm, because of his previous services to the movement. Under the influence of his advisors, Hitler later had Roehm shot.
