Kurt Cobain

A. (Show pictures of late 80's bands) Can you guess which of these bands was at the for-front of the 90's grunge movement in music?

1) If you guessed Nirvana, you'd be correct

2) The band Nirvana, with lead singer and songwriter Kurt Cobain, helped shape the grunge movement into a way of life for millions of American teens.

B. I've followed the life, and tragic death, of Kurt Cobain ever since I can remember having an interest in music. I've read numerous biographies, books, and articles on him, basically, because I used to idolize him.

C. From what I've learned, Kurt's life is best talked about in three categories: his career as a musician, his family relationships, and lastly his personal beliefs, his passions and his shortcomings.

I. Aside from a pop icon, probably the best thing to call Kurt is a Musician

A. You could say that Kurt's musical career began in 1984, which was according to the book Kurt Cobain, was the year Kurt's mother bought him his first guitar.

B. However, Kurt first got radio play in 1987, when his band Pen Cap Chew played live.

3) Kurt appreciated the littlest things in life, but his own life seemed to be too big for even him to handle.

A. Overall, Kurt was a soft-spoken, sarcastic, funny guy who lived an ironic life.

A. Kurt's life consisted of three women: his mother, his wife, and his daughter. All three of which had a huge impact on him.

2) Both Kurt and Courtney became did heroin which led to terrible addictions.

II. Kurt wanted control of not just his music, but also his Family

1) Needless to say Kurt was upset, he spoke out in an angry interview on MTV.

2) Kurt loved his girl and would take her everywhere that he went.
