A detailed Summary of Drugs
Every day, in almost every city and town across America, millions of children are deciding whether to try drugs. Most additions start when someone is a child. In 1999 a pole took in the 4.7 percent of eighth graders have tried cocaine, then in the tenth grade 7.7 percent have tried cocaine, and in the twelfth grade 9.8 percent tried it ( Cocaine ). Since 1979 the percentage of pot smokers that used everyday has dropped a whopping 10.7 percent, but now in 1999 its at a 49.7 percent ( Marijuana ). In 1999 we have a lot of curious kids experimenting drugs in 1999 a survey proved that in the eighth grade 2.7 percent have tried ecstasy, in the tenth grade 6.0 percent have tried it and in the twelfth grade almost 8.0 percent have tried it ( Ecstasy ). The last survey that was taken in 1996 for Crystal Meth had proven 4.9 million people of twelve years and older have tried it once in their lifetime ( Methamphetamine ). Cocaine, Mary Jane, Crystal Meth, Ecstasy, and mushrooms are all currently popular drugs, yet they are all additive and can tear apart a persons family and self esteem.

Crystal Meth is a stimulant drug that effects the central nervous system. Crystal Meth is sold in three basic types. They are capsules, powder and chunks/ crystals. The come down from meth is a crash. Crystal has many short term effects which are increased heart rate, increased alertness, paranoia, intense high, hallucinations and impaired speech. Then there are the long-term effects, which included fatal kidney, depression, and weight loss and decreased social life. A lot of people say when you smoke crystal it is like putting battery acid on your brain. The effects on the mind are disturbed sleep, excessive talking, panic, moodiness and arability. But, then again there are withdraw symptoms, which include restlessness, and mental confusion ( Methamphetamine ).
Most people can handle the stresses of modern life, stresses considered "normal" in our society, without developing any problems. But about ten percent of our population cannot handle these stresses. That's what lead up to drug addition. There were 14,843 deaths from drug induced causes in 1996. Today we have many preventions to keep drugs of the streets yet the people doing the are trying as hard as they can to keep their way of living normal. Yet there are many people just experimenting. Cocaine, Mary Jane, Crystal Meth, Ecstasy, and mushrooms are all currently popular drugs, yet they are all additive and can tear apart a person's family and self-esteem
