Ender's Game

A detailed Summary of Ender's Game

Ender's Game takes place in the future on earth and in space. Years ago aliens called buggers invaded earth and nearly destroyed the human race, soon after the war the government started to train ultra advanced "super-humans" that would be able to lead an invasion on the bugger home world. They used games to train them for combat, and everything was much more technologically advanced than today. The Wiggin family was one of the more promising families with a superior minded child in it. The law permitted that each family could only have two children, but the Wiggin family had three. The government allowed them to have three children because the first two were amazingly intelligent.

The first child, Valentine, was ten, and was extremely smart and talented, but she was too kind and timid to be a commander that would one day conquer another civilization. The second child, Peter, was eight, and was possibly smarter than Valentine but did not put his intelligence to good use. He was wild and crazy. For example, he would torture animals and threaten to kill people. The military could not put so much power in the hands of a psychopath. The third child, Andrew (Ender was his nickname) was six and, seemed to be a mix between Valentine

In the School he also trained in a simulator game where he commanded spaceships and his whole squad from Battle School was in control of individual ships. Ender told everyone what to do and his squad did it. This was more difficult because he had many less ships than the opposing force. He still won most of the battles. There was much pressure on everyone involved in this. After many battles, Mazer Rackham told Ender that this next battle would be the most important one of all. When Ender started the simulator he found he was outnumbered twenty to one and he was at their home planet. Ender devised an amazing strategy and conquered the fleet quickly. After the battle Mazer told Ender that he just led the Second Invasion. He just commanded the entire invasion while he thought he was playing a game. The whole importance of the final battle was to conquer the Bugger home world and destroy their entire species. They were successful in doing this. After that Ender visited the planet and felt remorse for the Buggers.

One of the major activities in Battle School was the squad battle. The squads would meet in a zero gravity room with a few things to hide behind. Ender's squad was pathetic at this activity. Each squad would separate into four toons. Each toon had a toon leader. This allowed easier commanding and battles that are more organized. After a few battles, Bernard traded Ender to another squad. This helped Ender and Bernard because they hated each other. Enders new leader was Bonzo. They did not get along either. Ender remembers him from when he beat him in a game in the game room. Bonzo's squad was much more talented. They won almost all the time. Bonzo would train much more than the other squads and he would make the toons perform their battle procedure until they got it perfect. Two members, Dink and Petra, helped train Ender and keep him out of trouble. Dink was a toon leader and he was awesome. He commanded his own toon like it was a squad. He did not take orders from Bonzo because he thought he was better than he was. Dink
