Androgogy Vs Pedogogy
A detailed Summary of Androgogy Vs Pedogogy
Andragogy and Pedagogy share quite a few characteristics, but are quite different. Andragogy deals with self-directed learning through problem solving. Pedagogy is the art of teaching. I believe that Andragogy is a form of Pedagogy because in order to establish an effective way to teach something, a teacher would have to teach himself through trial and error what the best method would be.
They also are similar in the fact that they produce the same result. Adults are self-directed and expect to take responsibility for decisions. They need to know why they need to know something, for what purpose, and they learn best when the topic is of substantial value. A person that is good at Pedagogy is also good at insti

lling the techniques in a student for Andragogy. Each individual learns in different ways and it is up to that individual to seek the most proficient way to obtain that knowledge. In other words, Andragogy means that instruction for adults needs to focus more on the process and less on the content being taught. Strategies such as case studies, role-playing, simulations, and self-evaluation are most useful. Instructors adopt a role of facilitator or resource rather than lecturer or grader.
